Q:

Is it Safe to Visit Dubai as a Woman?

As a woman living in Europe, I’ve honestly always been intrigued by Dubai— especially its luxurious lifestyle and Arab culture. But I can’t help but wonder: is it really safe for a woman to visit Dubai, especially if she’s traveling alone? I’ve read that it’s a modern and tourist-friendly city, but at the same time, it’s a place with strict laws and a very different cultural background from Europe. Will I feel out of place? Are there any specific rules or precautions I need to keep in mind as a solo female traveler? I’d love to know what to expect so I can decide if Dubai is a destination I’d feel comfortable exploring.

Hey Rachel! As someone who’s lived in Dubai for years, let me tell you—you’ve got nothing to worry about. Dubai is one of the safest places you can visit, whether you’re traveling solo or in a group. Seriously, you can walk around at 3 AM and feel completely at ease. Crime rates are super low, and the city is very welcoming to tourists, including women.

I totally get it that coming from Europe, Dubai’s culture and laws might seem a bit strict at first, but it’s really all about respect. Women are treated with a lot of courtesy here, and solo female travelers are common. You’ll see women from all over the world, whether they’re working, shopping, or just hanging out at cafes.

That said, here are a few tips to keep in mind:

  1. Dress Modestly in Public: Nothing too over the top—just avoid super short shorts or crop tops in malls or public spaces. At the beach or pool? Go ahead and rock your swimsuit.
  2. Respect Local Customs: Things like public displays of affection or being overly loud can raise eyebrows, but as long as you’re respectful, you’ll be fine.
  3. Taxis and Ride-Sharing: Taxis here are super safe, and they even have pink taxis specifically for women, driven by female drivers if you prefer that.

Dubai is super modern and very used to hosting people from all over the world, so you won’t feel out of place at all. You’ll find loads of other women—locals, expats, and tourists—living their best lives. And honestly? The hospitality here is next level. You’ll feel welcomed and taken care of the whole time.

So pack your bags, and don’t overthink it. Dubai’s got you covered! 😊
