What Travellers Should Know

Immigration and Customs Form

Travellers entering or leaving Suriname are required to complete the Immigration and Customs Form within three days before arrival and again before departure.

Entry Fee and visas

Entry requirements depend on nationality. Many visitors travelling for tourism or family visits can enter without a visa for up to 90 days but must pay an Entry Fee before travelling. Other nationalities continue to require a visa.

Recent online entry-process changes

Suriname updated the online process used for visa applications and Entry Fee payments in August 2026. Travellers should use the current official government or VFS Global route rather than relying on an older saved application link.

Guyana and French Guiana borders

Suriname has international crossing points connecting with neighbouring Guyana and French Guiana. Travellers using these routes should check current ferry, boat and immigration arrangements before travelling because procedures differ from airport entry.

Crime and demonstrations

Petty crime and robbery occur, particularly in Paramaribo. Demonstrations can occasionally result in roadblocks or transport disruption. Travellers should avoid large demonstrations and take normal precautions with valuables.

Latest Travel Changes

International flights and ordinary travel continue. No current nationwide airport shutdown, aviation disruption or general border closure affecting ordinary visitors has been identified.
