If you’ve travelled through Africa recently, you’ve probably noticed something remarkable. Cities that were once relatively small are expanding at an incredible pace. New neighbourhoods seem to appear every year, roads are constantly being built, and skylines continue to change.

I’ve had the opportunity to visit cities across Africa, Europe and Asia, and one observation keeps standing out to me: many African cities feel like they’re in the middle of a transformation. The population is growing rapidly, more people are moving from rural communities into urban areas, and demand for housing, transport and businesses continues to rise.

In this short video, I share some of the things I’ve personally observed while travelling and explain why so many African cities are growing so quickly. It’s a fascinating trend that is reshaping not only the continent but also the global economy.

Of course, rapid growth brings both opportunities and challenges. Expanding cities can create new jobs, attract investment and improve infrastructure, but they can also place pressure on housing, roads, healthcare and public services if development doesn’t keep pace with population growth.
