Little India Singapore Like You’ve Never Seen It Before
Little India is one of the most colorful and vibrant neighborhoods in Singapore. Walking through its streets feels like stepping into another world – the aromas of spices in the air, the sound of Bollywood music in the background, the sight of temples standing proudly beside bustling shops and street markets.
I have visited Little India many times, and every time I go, I find something new. It might be a fresh mural painted on a wall, a festival happening in the street, or just the way the sunlight catches the details on a temple’s carvings. This place is alive, and it has a way of pulling you in.
Why Visit Little India?
Little India is one of the top tourist stops in Singapore. Here are a few things that make it so special:
- Temples: The Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple and Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple are among the most beautiful Hindu temples in Singapore.
- Markets: From Tekka Centre to small spice shops, this is where you’ll find fresh produce, fabrics, flowers, and everything in between.
- Street Art: Colorful murals decorate the walls, telling stories of culture and heritage.
- Festivals: During Deepavali, the streets of Little India glow with lights and decorations, making it one of the best times to visit.
My Photo Journey Through Little India
On one of my recent trips, I decided to capture Little India through my camera lens. Every corner had something worth photographing.
These photos bring out the unique character of Little India. From the vibrant shopfronts to the detailed temple carvings, each image is a snapshot of a community that is full of life and history.
And Don’t Miss the Indian Heritage Centre!
While you’re exploring Little India, I highly recommend stopping by the Indian Heritage Centre. It is one of the neighborhood’s cultural gems and gives you a deeper understanding of the Indian community’s history in Singapore.
The building itself is striking, with a design inspired by traditional Indian stepwells, and inside you’ll find exhibitions on migration, festivals, and heritage. I honestly found it fascinating because it shows how Indian culture has shaped Singapore’s identity over the years.
If you’re already walking around Campbell Lane or Tekka Centre, it’s just a short walk away and definitely worth your time. Trust me when I say it adds another layer to the Little India experience.
Practical Information for Visitors
- Getting There: Take the MRT to Little India Station (Downtown and North East Line) or Farrer Park Station. Both bring you right into the heart of the neighborhood.
- Best Time to Visit: Evenings are lively, but the most magical time is during Deepavali, when the streets are lit up with decorations.
- What to Bring: A camera, of course! The colors of Little India are made for photography.

Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
Thanks!
Let me look into that now.
