Current Travel Conditions
What Travellers Should Know
Regional security situation
Bahrain is affected by continuing tensions involving the United States and Iran. Drone and missile attacks have occurred in the region, including Bahrain, and further escalation could affect travel with little warning.
Flights can change quickly
Commercial aviation continues, but travellers should confirm their flight directly with their airline before travelling to the airport. Airspace restrictions elsewhere in the Gulf can also affect routes to and from Bahrain.
Visa requirements
Visa requirements depend on nationality. Eligible travellers can apply through Bahrain’s official eVisa system, while some nationalities qualify for a visa on arrival.
Passport requirements
Travellers should generally have a passport valid for at least six months from arrival and should confirm the requirements applying to their nationality before departure.
King Fahd Causeway
Bahrain is connected to Saudi Arabia by the King Fahd Causeway. Travellers crossing by road must meet the immigration requirements of both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Regional security incidents can also cause temporary restrictions.
Security and military locations
Travellers should stay away from military and security facilities and follow instructions from local authorities during security incidents.
Latest Travel Changes
Regional conflict continues to affect travel
The security situation in the Gulf remains unpredictable. Drone and missile threats and periodic regional attacks mean flights and airspace arrangements can change at short notice.
Travel warnings remain elevated
The United States currently advises travellers to reconsider travel to Bahrain because of terrorism and armed-conflict risks. UK guidance no longer advises against all but essential travel, but continues to warn about possible attacks and travel disruption.
Before You Travel
Check your airline, Bahrain International Airport, Bahrain’s official immigration requirements and the travel advice issued by your own government immediately before departure.
Because the regional security situation can change quickly, travellers should also monitor airspace and flight information during their trip and have alternative plans in case flights are cancelled or delayed.
