Current Travel Conditions
What Travellers Should Know
E-Arrival Card
All travellers entering Brunei by air, land or sea must register for an E-Arrival Card before arrival. The E-Arrival Card is separate from any visa requirement.
Visa requirements
Visa requirements depend on nationality and length of stay. Some nationalities can enter Brunei without a visa for short visits, while others must obtain a visa before travelling.
Passport requirements
Travellers should generally have a passport valid for at least six months beyond their arrival date. Passport requirements can vary according to nationality and visa status.
Health Declaration Form
Travellers entering Brunei are also required to complete a Health Declaration Form before or upon arrival.
Yellow fever
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers arriving from certain countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission. Additional polio vaccination requirements can apply in some circumstances.
Land-border travel
Brunei shares its only international land border with Malaysia. Border posts are not open 24 hours, so travellers crossing by road should check the operating hours of their intended crossing before departure.
Local laws
Brunei has strict laws covering alcohol, drugs, public behaviour and other activities. Some offences carry significantly more severe penalties than travellers may encounter in their home countries.
Latest Travel Changes

Before You Travel
Check your airline, airport information, Brunei’s immigration requirements, E-Arrival Card registration and the travel advice issued by your own government before departure.
If entering or leaving Brunei by road, check the opening hours of your intended border crossing because land-border posts do not operate 24 hours a day.
