Check current flight, airport, entry, border and travel warning information that could affect a trip to Israel.
Israel Status
DISRUPTION
International travel to Israel is operating, including flights through Ben Gurion Airport. However, the security situation remains volatile, severe travel warnings apply to several areas, military activity continues around Gaza and flights, borders and local restrictions can change at short notice.
Current Travel Conditions
What Travellers Should Know
Ben Gurion Airport
Ben Gurion Airport is open and handling international flights. Terminal 1 has also resumed international operations. Some airlines use both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, so passengers should check their terminal before travelling to the airport.
Flight disruption
Israel is not currently cut off from international aviation. However, regional security developments can cause airlines to suspend services, cancel flights or change schedules with little notice.
ETA-IL
Travellers from visa-exempt countries generally need an approved Electronic Travel Authorization, known as ETA-IL, before travelling to Israel. Travellers who require a visa must obtain the appropriate visa instead.
Gaza
Travel to Gaza is severely restricted and subject to extreme security risks. Military activity continues around the Gaza border, and ordinary tourists should not assume that crossings into Gaza are available.
Lebanon border
Strong travel warnings remain in place around Israel’s northern border with Lebanon. The security situation can change rapidly and restrictions may be introduced at short notice.
Syria border
Areas close to the Syrian frontier are also subject to heightened security risks and official travel warnings.
West Bank
Security conditions vary considerably across the West Bank. Checkpoints, road closures, military operations and violent incidents can affect travel with little warning.
Jordan crossings
Passenger border crossings between Israel and Jordan are operating according to individual schedules. These include the Jordan River crossing and Yitzhak Rabin crossing. Opening hours can change during religious holidays and periods of heightened security.
Egypt crossing
The Menachem Begin crossing at Taba provides passenger access between Israel and Egypt and is currently operating. Travellers should check current security advice for Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula separately.
Security alerts
Travellers should follow instructions from Israel’s Home Front Command. Missile, drone or other security threats can result in alerts, shelter instructions and temporary restrictions.
Demonstrations
Large demonstrations occur in Israel and can disrupt roads and access to transportation, including routes towards Ben Gurion Airport. Travellers should avoid demonstrations and check traffic conditions before travelling.

International aviation has recovered
International air connectivity has improved substantially compared with earlier periods of conflict, but individual airlines continue to adjust Israel services according to security conditions.
Border crossings operating
Passenger crossings with Jordan and Egypt continue to operate, although opening hours can change during holidays and because of security conditions.
Security restrictions remain possible
Current official travel guidance warns that the security situation remains dynamic and that restrictions can be introduced with little warning.
Military activity continues around Gaza
Despite periods of reduced hostilities and ceasefire arrangements, military activity continues around the Gaza border and strong travel warnings remain in effect.
Before You Travel
Check your airline directly before departure because flight schedules can change quickly in response to regional security developments.
Check whether you require an Israeli visa or ETA-IL before travelling.
If arriving or departing through Ben Gurion Airport, check your terminal before travelling to the airport.
If travelling overland to Jordan or Egypt, confirm the opening hours and operating status of your intended border crossing on the day of travel.
Avoid areas covered by official warnings, particularly Gaza and sensitive border regions.
Follow Home Front Command instructions and know what to do if a security alert or warning siren is issued.
Allow additional time when travelling to airports and border crossings because security checks, demonstrations or temporary road restrictions can cause delays.
