What Travellers Should Know

Ordinary tourism continues

There is no significant current nationwide disruption affecting ordinary tourism, commercial flights or airport operations in Saint Lucia.

U.S. advisory raised

The U.S. State Department raised its Saint Lucia advisory to Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution in July 2026 because of the risk of crime.

Violent crime

Armed robbery, assault, burglary and other violent crimes occur in Saint Lucia. Foreign visitors and guests at tourist accommodation have also been affected.

Vieux Fort

Current Canadian guidance reports an increase in violent crime, including gun violence, particularly in Vieux Fort. Travellers should remain aware of their surroundings and take additional care after dark.

Petty crime

Pickpocketing, purse snatching and other opportunistic theft can occur in tourist areas. Keep valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive jewellery or large amounts of cash.

Electronic immigration form

Travellers arriving by air are encouraged to complete Saint Lucia’s electronic immigration form before arrival. It can be submitted up to three days before travel.

Form can also be completed on arrival

The electronic immigration form is not currently a reason to delay a trip. Saint Lucia’s Tourism Authority says air passengers who have not completed it beforehand can use free airport Wi-Fi to complete it on arrival.

Visa requirements

Visa requirements depend on nationality and length of stay. Travellers should confirm the requirements applying to their passport before departure.

Yellow fever certificate

A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required for travellers arriving from certain countries where yellow fever is present.

Hurricane season

Saint Lucia can be affected by tropical storms and hurricanes. Heavy tropical rainfall can also cause flash flooding, so travellers should monitor official weather information during the Atlantic hurricane season.

Driving

Road conditions and driving standards can differ significantly from those in many visitors’ home countries. Take additional care on narrow and mountainous roads.
