International passenger services continue to operate to and from the Solomon Islands. However, travellers should pay particular attention to schedule changes affecting Solomon Airlines.
Reduced Solomon Airlines schedule
Solomon Airlines moved to a single international aircraft operation from 16 September to 30 November 2026. The airline has revised frequencies and operating days across parts of its international network.
Brisbane and Honiara
Solomon Airlines’ revised schedule includes three weekly outbound Brisbane-Honiara services, with return services from Honiara to Brisbane operating on different days of the week.
Other regional connections
Solomon Airlines continues to operate regional services involving destinations including Nadi and Port Vila, although travellers should check current schedules because frequencies and operating days can change.
Honiara International Airport
Honiara International Airport is the country’s principal international gateway and continues to handle scheduled passenger flights.
New electronic visa system
The Solomon Islands Government introduced a new Electronic Visa System in September 2026. Visa applications and decisions can now be processed through the government’s online system.
Check before travelling
Travellers should confirm whether they need to obtain a visa through the new electronic system before departure. Requirements depend on nationality and the purpose of travel.
Political gatherings

Crime
Travellers should take ordinary precautions against theft and other crime, particularly in Honiara and after dark.
Road travel
Road conditions can be poor outside central Honiara, particularly after heavy rainfall. Travellers should allow additional time when travelling overland.
Tropical weather

The Solomon Islands lies in a highly seismically active part of the Pacific. Travellers should be familiar with local tsunami procedures and follow official instructions after strong or prolonged earthquakes.
