What Travellers Should Know

Online Arrival/Departure Card

Since March 2026, travellers entering or leaving Trinidad and Tobago must complete the country’s online Arrival/Departure Card. The form can be completed up to 72 hours before travel and replaces the previous paper form.

Violent crime

Violent and gang-related crime remains a significant concern, particularly in parts of Trinidad. Travellers should be cautious when moving around unfamiliar areas, avoid isolated locations and take additional precautions at night.

Higher-risk areas

Some government travel advisories identify specific neighbourhoods and areas where the risk from gang activity, shootings and other violent crime is considerably higher. Travellers should check current official guidance before travelling around Port of Spain and other affected locations.

State of Emergency information removed

Earlier in 2026, a State of Emergency was an important part of travel guidance for Trinidad and Tobago. Current UK guidance was updated in September 2026 to remove information about the State of Emergency. Travellers should therefore rely on current guidance rather than older reports describing emergency measures.

Flights and airports

Commercial flights continue to operate through Trinidad and Tobago’s main airports. No significant current nationwide aviation disruption has been identified.

Latest Travel Changes

State of Emergency information removed

Current UK travel guidance was updated on 21 September 2026 to remove information about the State of Emergency. Security concerns remain, particularly relating to violent and gang-related crime, but older reports describing emergency measures should not automatically be treated as current.

New digital arrival and departure system

Trinidad and Tobago introduced its online Arrival/Departure Card system in March 2026. Travellers must now complete the form online before entering or leaving the country and save the resulting QR codes for immigration and customs processing.

Commercial travel continues

International flights and the country’s principal airports continue to operate. The WATCH classification is therefore primarily related to current security concerns and the updated entry process rather than a nationwide transport disruption.
