Where is Lesotho?

Lesotho is a small landlocked country located in southern Africa. What makes the location of this country unusual is the fact that the entire country is surrounded by South Africa. What this means is that Lesotho has no border with any other country. So if you’re travelling there by road, you’ll have no other option than to enter through South Africa.

Lesotho’s capital, Maseru, is located in the western part of the country. It is pretty close to the South African border. That said, the country is also known for its mountainous landscape and it is even sometimes called the “Kingdom in the Sky”. Why? Simply because much of it sits at high elevation.

So all in all, if you’re looking for Lesotho on a map of Africa, just look inside South Africa and you’ll find it there.
